Preface This book is basically everything you need to know about Salesforce. It never ceases to amaze me how badly Salesforce can be configured. This book is not only how but also why Salesforce should be setup. The basic rule is to keep it simple, use configuration and not code. This book emphasizes the very basic skills you will need to know as a Salesforce Administrator, but puts it into the larger view of the various Salesforce products. Chapter 1: Introduction to Salesforce- This is about getting a free Salesforce environment to play around with, getting familiar with logging into Salesforce, and the basic navigation around the user interface. In particular, it will show you how to configure Salesforce from a basic layout. Chapter 2: Basic Admin Essentials- This chapter covers the typical tasks faced by a Salesforce Administrator on a daily basis. It includes checking the user’s role and profile, as well as being able to login as them. It includes a high- level view of the Salesforce environment and how to diagnose common issues. Chapter 3: Customizing User Interface- This chapter is about making users want to use Salesforce. It includes how to create a user interface with all the relevant information needed by the user. It also includes ways to monitor users, but in a friendly way to ensure they are using Salesforce to its full potential. Chapter 4: Creating Object with Custom Fields and Relationships- This chapter is the basics of modifying

Salesforce. It shows how Salesforce can easily be configured to meet various business requirements. It also goes into depth on various aspects that an administrator should be aware of, such as sharing and visibility to information, as well as basic checks that should be in place before making updates to a live environment. Chapter 5: Adding Users and Assigning Correct Access Levels- Security is essential for any business. It can make headline news when the wrong information gets out. This chapter is about securing your Salesforce environment so people only get to see what they need to see. Chapter 6: Automating Salesforce with Flows– This chapter introduces Salesforce Flows, which will give you a basic understanding of how automation will allow users freedom to do what they need to do, whilst Salesforce can take care of the background routine work. Chapter 7: Salesforce Security Model– This chapter builds on the previous one, but since so many problems arise with setting up the correct security in Salesforce, it is essential that administrators have a good understanding of the Salesforce security model. This chapter shows how to configure an entire Salesforce org, but demonstrates how to test it. Chapter 8: Reports, Dashboards, and Basic Tableau– This chapter is about how to show the data to various users, from when they login to presentations to senior management. Chapter 9: Various Salesforce Tools– It can be very time-consuming to do various tasks in Salesforce. Fortunately, there are many tools available to save you time and hassle. This chapter goes through the most useful tools you can use to ensure that you are using Salesforce to its best capabilities.

Chapter 10: Various Salesforce Features– This chapter gives an overview of numerous Salesforce features that are not immediately obvious. For example, you can use Salesforce to run a call center or manage an online commercial website. If you do not know that these features are there, then you are missing out. Salesforce can meet a wide variety of business needs. The aim is to have a true 3600 customer view, and the more you can do in Salesforce, the better. Chapter 11: Basics of Apex and Lightning Web Components– This chapter gives an overview of customizing Salesforce using code. Although configuration is the best way of achieving most functionality, it is useful to be able to code Salesforce for specific requirements. In addition, being able to integrate Salesforce with other external systems is also necessary. This chapter gives an overview of the key skills and areas you will need to know. Chapter 12: Einstein AI– This chapter shows how to use AI with Salesforce. In particular, it focuses on Agentforce, which is Salesforce's native AI capability. This is an area Salesforce will expand upon over the next few years, but this chapter will give a basic introduction, including the ability to assist Sales and Service users. Chapter 13: Preparing for Salesforce Certifications– It is important to be certified with Salesforce. This chapter gives hints and tips on how to become certified with Salesforce and provides a general plan for your career growth. Chapter 14: Broader Salesforce Ecosystem– It is easy to think of Salesforce as a stand-alone solution, but there are many Salesforce products. This chapter gives an overview of the various other products that you should be aware of. It also gives a quick introduction to how to use and configure these products.
