Dear Reader, When you move to a new city, the impact is felt in your daily routine. When I arrived in Boston four years ago, I found myself glued to my phone’s GPS app to do pretty much anything, from traversing my new commute (difficult) to finding the nearest Dunkin’ for coffee (easy—this is Boston!). Between bus stops, train stations, highways, and bike lanes, simply navigating from A to B every day was overwhelming. Getting started in a new ERP system is similar. When your company moves its pro- cesses to SAP S/4HANA, your daily transactions are rerouted, and you have new navi- gation options for accessing them. However, completing your tasks smoothly and efficiently requires more than a GPS. Once you access your tasks, you need to know how to perform them—to both find the coffee shop and place your order. SAP professionals Wolfgang Fitznar and Dennis Fitznar have combined their knowl- edge to do just that. With this book, they guide you step by step (ahem, click by click) through the new suite. You can expect your journey to include key points of interest, anecdotes from the experts, and plenty of good humor! What did you think about Using SAP S/4HANA: An Introduction for Business Users? Your comments and suggestions are the most useful tools to help us make our books the best they can be. Please feel free to contact me and share any praise or criticism you may have. Thank you for purchasing a book from SAP PRESS! Megan Fuerst Editor, SAP PRESS meganf@rheinwerk-publishing.com www.sap-press.com Rheinwerk Publishing • Boston, MA

Foreword The development of software to handle all of a company’s business processes is SAP’s area of expertise. Since its launch in 2015, SAP S/4HANA, along with its predecessor, SAP ERP, has been helping companies prepare for their future. SAP S/4HANA brings significant advantages for all companies, such as real-time report- ing, simplified usability, performance improvements, and shorter innovation cycles— just to name a few. SAP S/4HANA helps simplify these processes and procedures, mak- ing working with the SAP system much more efficient and saving you the most valu- able resource: time! The key to this efficiency is the new user interface called SAP Fiori. It breathes new life into an old system design by presenting the user with contemporary tiles, very similar to what can be seen today on tablets and smartphones. The SAP Fiori launchpad can also be personalized, which only elevates the advantages of SAP S/4HANA, especially for users who work with it on a daily basis. However, thanks to the high level of user friendliness, the changeover is easy, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to the program. This book offers you a well-structured introduction to the program. Whether you work in purchasing, in a warehouse, in sales, or in accounting and controlling, here you will learn step by step what is important and how you can get the most out of the SAP system. After this, Wolfgang and Dennis Fitznar will introduce you to some more advanced options, but all in the same easy-to-follow format. Truth be told, I would have liked this book myself, when getting started with SAP S/4HANA, since complicated, technical jargon be overwhelming at first. However, this book shows you how to quickly find your way around the system, which makes doing your daily tasks much easier—and more fun—to do! Jennifer Hauck Training System Architect SAP SE17

Preface Welcome to SAP S/4HANA, the most successful standard software for companies! Are you already working with SAP S/4HANA, or are you about to undergo appropriate training? That’s great, because SAP S/4HANA is the latest SAP product, and together with its predecessor SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA is by far the most widely used software in larger companies. SAP S/4HANA is one program with two user interfaces: classic SAP GUI and the new, hip SAP Fiori, as shown in the image below. We’re currently in a transitional phase, and both user interfaces are being used, so we’ll also describe both interfaces for you in this book. An SAP Fiori Window in the Background, and an SAP GUI Window in the Foreground But before we accompany you on your journey of discovery through SAP S/4HANA, we have one question: Who are you? Are you an SAP newcomer? Then this is the right book for you! You’ll receive systematic and comprehensive basic training for all important overarching tools that SAP S/4HANA offers you as a user and that you need for daily practice.19

Preface Have you already had a short SAP S/4HANA training, or has someone incidentally incorporated you? In both cases, there’s a good chance that you don’t yet know many valuable tools, methods, and basic settings of this powerful software. Scroll through the table of contents of this book and check for yourself which topics are relevant to you. Are you already familiar with the older SAP GUI, and are you more interested in the new SAP Fiori user interface? We’ll show you where to find the well-known SAP GUI functions in SAP Fiori and which exciting new functions are also available for switchers. SAP S/4HANA with its two interfaces is like your toolbox with many tools that allow you to enter, maintain, and evaluate data. After reading this book, you’ll know the most important tools and methods. Craftsmen also have tools, for example, classic screwdrivers and a state-of-the-art cord- less electric screwdriver. If they only use the classic screwdriver instead of the cordless screwdriver, you’ll probably think they could work much more efficiently if they use modern tools. But what does this have to do with SAP? Many SAP users only use the classic screwdrivers because they don’t know the cordless screwdrivers of the SAP system. This may happen because money on training has been saved, or because many users only receive a short briefing from a colleague, who in turn has only received a short briefing from a col- league. In this book, we’ll not only introduce you to the basic functions in detail but also give you many tips that will help you with your daily tasks. Target Groups Whether you’re an accountant, controller, buyer, sales employee, dispatcher, or HR manager, if you regularly work with SAP S/4HANA as a user, this book is just right for you. If you’re an SAP consultant, SAP application manager, or SAP support, you’re not part of our target group. The book is made for users, and every click and every input are doc- umented here in detail, which is probably too detailed for you. However, if you don’t already know the new SAP Fiori interface or SAP GUI theme Belize, you can benefit from this book. As a consultant or application manager, you should have the same level of knowledge as your power users. Note No topics from customizing, administration, or programming are covered here, as this book is only about the application of SAP S/4HANA.20
